Medals for Everyone
Competing for the fun and excitement of events
There are endless opportunities for fun and growth in our ‘Curtain Upp Elites Team’. This team is specifically for dancers who would like to take their dance training to the next level and be challenged further with more personalised tuition. Dancers receive private lessons to learn solo, duets and trios in their favourite disciplines and then have the opportunity to compete in two local competitions/festivals each year. As well as showcasing their dances in community performances and shows.
Dance competitions are highly rewarding for dancers and performers of all ages – and it is not just about the medals and trophies. They provide great stage experience and promote hard work to strive for polished performances at high standards. They also assist to build up an emotional resilience to help deal with criticism and feedback in all aspects of life. Competitions are such a fantastic way to have more fun with dance friends and teachers, while developing a larger passion for dance.
At Curtain Upp we believe it’s not about winning, it’s about going on stage, performing your socks off and most importantly enjoying yourself!
Spotlight Dance Festival
Spotlight’s ethos and drive is to put Rutland Dance onto the stage for all to see. The aim of their show is to unite Rutland Dance and to share ideas of work that is taking place across the county. Curtain Upp proudly takes part in ‘Spotlight’ each year, giving our dancers the opportunity to perform at The Corn Exchange Theatre in Stamford. Participating in such a fantastic community event helps our dancers to develop self-confidence, poise, co-ordination, and musicality in a fun, creative yet highly professional environment. They can watch, learn, and be inspired by other dance performances and form new relationships with likeminded people. We are thrilled to be able to continue to offer our dancers this valuable and rewarding experience and continue their journey through dance’.
"Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion."
– Martha Graham, American Dancer and Choreographer
